Duhaime, Wilkins Lead No. 10 Men's Hockey Past Merrimack, 6-0

Hayden Hawkey recorded his 12th career shutout on Friday night.

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.Josh Wilkins and Brandon Duhaime each tallied a goal and two assists and Hayden Hawkey earned his 12th career shutout as the No. 10 Providence College men's hockey team finished off the first half of the season with a 6-0 win at Merrimack on Friday night. Providence enters the break at 9-4-3 (6-2-1 HEA) and in third place in the Hockey East standings.

NOTES
- The Friars jumped on the board early as Kasper Björkqvist notched his team-high eighth strike of the season just 3:27 into the game. Josh Wilkins and Jack Dugan came down on a 3-on-2 rush and Dugan threaded a pass to Björkqvist at the far post
- Providence struck again with just 46 remaining in the first period on Spenser Young's sixth tally of the season. With the Friars on the power play, Wilkins fed Brandon Duhaime at the near post and he centered a pass to Young who beat Pantano up high.
- Shots on goal after 20 minutes were 9-4 in favor of the Friars.
- The Friars continued the momentum through period two as they added a pair of goals to grab a 4-0 lead through 40 minutes.
- Greg Printz scored his seventh goal of the season and Wilkins added his fifth of the season just 1:36 later to give Providence a four-goal cushion.
- Goals by Scott Conway and Duhaime in the third period gave the Friars a 6-0 lead.
- Duhaime, Thompson and Wilkins each posted two assists on Saturday night.
- Providence won 31-of-61 faceoffs and out-attempted the Warriors 53-45.
- The Friars outscored the Warriors 20-7 over three games this season.
- The Friars are now unbeaten in their last four games (2-0-2).
- Hawkey's 12th career shutout sits one shutout shy of the program record (13, Jon Gillies).
- Duhaime recorded his first career three-point game and has five points over his last two games. It was the sixth career three-point outing for Wilkins and he extended his career-long point streak to six games (3-8-11).
- Seven players have reached the 10-point mark for the Friars through 16 games.
- Jay O'Brien recorded his first career assist and has points in his last two games.
- Young has a team-high +15 rating and leads the Friars with five power play goals.
- Nate Leaman recorded his 299th career win as a head coach.

6-0 (Providence) – 15:14/3rd – EV – Brandon Duhaime (Thompson, Bunz) – Curl-and-drag at the top of the circles from Thompson right on the stick of Duhaime for the tap-in.
