PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team defeated Seton Hall on Sunday, Oct. 21 by a score of 1-0. The game was played on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium and marked Senior Day for the five graduating seniors.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- Amber Birchwell (Mastic, N.Y.) could not capitalize on an open shot in the 18th minute. Birchwell was set up by Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.) slipping the ball past the Seton Hall wall off a free kick that Birchwell ran onto. She missed her right-footed shot wide right.
- The Friars held Seton Hall to zero shots and corners in the first half.
- Birchwell gave the Friars the lead in the 51st minute. She set up the opportunity by using her speed down the left sideline, then pushing the ball across the 18-yard box before finishing her right-footed shot at the penalty mark.
- Providence had a great chance for an insurance goal in the 62nd minute, Alessandra Arace (Pittsfield, Mass.) was tripped up five yards outside the 18-yard box. McNulty stood over the ball and hit a curling shot that just sailed over the crossbar.
- Seton Hall struggled on offense all game long, they tallied two shots on the game, both coming in the second half. The Friars outshot the Pirates, 11-2.
- Shelby Hogan (Franklin, Mass.) recorded her ninth shutout of the season.
