PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's basketball team fell to Seton Hall, 65-56, on Friday, Jan. 26 at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in front of 1,200 fans as part of the program's 11th Annual Project Providence event.

Seton Hall used a 14-3 scoring edge over the final 4:41 of the second quarter to take a 30-20 lead at halftime. The Pirates took advantage of 13 Providence miscues and out-scored the Friars 17-9 in points off of turnovers in the opening half.

Ny-Asia Franklin (East Orange, N.J.) led the Friars with six points and added two rebounds. Chanell Williams (Bronx, N.Y.) added four points and a team-best four rebounds. JaQuan Jackson paced Seton Hall with 10 points.

The Pirates maintained a double-digit lead for much of the third quarter, as the Friars closed to as little as eight (33-25) with 8:06 on the clock.

Seton Hall led by as many as 16 points (51-35) with 8:46 remaining in the fourth quarter before Providence went on a 9-2 run to cut the deficit to nine (53-44) with 6:03 left to play. The Pirates were able to regain the momentum with a quick 6-0 spurt to mount a 15-point edge.

Andrea Cooper (Edmond, Okla.) converted on a lay-up and sparked a 10-2 Providence run that got the Friars within seven (61-54), but the clock was not on PC's side as just 33 seconds remained. Seton Hall was 4-4 from the free-throw line down the stretch.

Maddie Jolin (Rehoboth, Mass.) paced the Friars with 16 points and she also contributed two rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots and one steal. Jovana Nogic (Belgrade, Serbia) also reached double figures in the scoring column with 11 points and added two rebounds, two assists, one blocked shot and a team-best three steals.

The Friars out-rebounded the Pirates, 31-26, and got a career-high nine rebounds from freshman Kyra Spiwak (Arlington Heights, Ill.). Williams also had a career day on the boards with seven rebounds and added four points, four assists and one steal.

Providence College returns to action on Sunday, Jan. 28 against St. John's at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) via FOX Sports Go.
