Women's Soccer Defeats Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's soccer team defeated cross-city rival Brown University, 3-1, on Thursday, Sept. 7. The Friars move to 2-4-0 on the season, while the Bears drop to 3-2-0.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
1^stHalf

Katie Day (East Kingston, N.H.) put the Friars on the board first on a penalty shot; the goal marked the first of the season for the defender and the second of the season for the team.
The Friars finished back-to-back attack attempts from Hailee Duserick (Canton, Mass.) and Alessandra Arace (Pittsfield, Mass.) to give the Friars a 3-0 lead at the conclusion of the first half.

2^ndHalf

The Bears posted their lone goal before the final whistle in the 87^th minute.
Goalkeeper Shelby Hogan posted six saves on the game to Etzel's five.
The Bears held the advantage in shots (16-12) and corners (8-7).

HOW THE FRIARS SCORED

The Friars tallied a trio of goals in the first half on a trio of goals scored in six minutes.

Katie Day (East Kingston, N.H.) put the Friars on the board in the 29^th minute on a penalty kick. The tally marked the first for the season for Day.
Hailee Duserick (Canton, Mass.) scored on a 40-yard free kick opportunity to give the Friars a 2-0 lead (34:00).
Alessandra Arace (Pittsfield, Mass.) notched her first collegiate goal on a shot in the 35^th minute to give the Friars a 3-0 advantage.

HOW THE BEARS SCORED

Star White netted a shot past Hogan in the 87^th minute.

UP NEXT

The Friars will host Arkansas on Sunday, Sept. 10 at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. for a 12:30 p.m. kickoff. The game will be televised on Cox Sports TV.
