Ilarda, Oakley Shine On Day One of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, PENN. - The Providence College track and field team competed at the 123rd annual Penn Relays on Thursday, April 28.

Brianna Ilarda (Perth, Australia) began the night on a strong note for the Friars. Competing in her first steeplechase of the year, Ilarda won the meet with a time of 9:57.22. The time was a two second personal best for Ilarda and was less than a second off the meet and facility record.

Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand) was another bright spot for Providence. Oakley made his career debut in the 5,000 meters by finishing third overall in a time of 13:55.45. The time is currently the fastest in the BIG EAST.

Millie Paladino (Morgantown, W. Va.) also made her debut in the 5,000 meters. Paladino took fifth in a time of 16:23.58.

Providence will race a men's Distance Medley Relay on Day Two of Penn Relays on Friday, April 28.
