FRIARS HEAD SOUTH TO PARTICIPATE IN SAVANNAH INVITATIONAL... The Providence College women's basketball team will hit the road to play three games in three days at the Savannah Invitational. Tournament play opens on Nov. 21 against Savannah State at 7:00 p.m. The Friars will then face Wright State on Nov. 22 (4:30 p.m.) and Stetson on Nov. 23 (4:30 p.m.). The tournament will take place at the Savannah Civic Center in Savannah, Ga.

TUNE IN... Each of the Friars' three games at the Savannah Invitational will be broadcast live on Friars All-Access (audio only), which is a subscription service available on the College's athletic website (Friars.com). The tournament will provide live stats for each game, and links are available on the women's basketball schedule (Friars.com).

FIRST-TIME FOES ON DECK AT SAVANNAH INVITATIONAL... Providence College is slated to play three opponents it has not previously faced during the 43-year history of the women's basketball program.

SCOUTING SAVANNAH STATE... Savannah State is currently 1-1 on the year, and fell to Alabama State (81-61) in its most recent game on Nov. 13. The Tigers opened the season with an 86-44 victory over LaGrange. In that game, the Tigers collected 58 rebounds and 18 steals, while shooting 41.5-percent from the field (34-82). Kaylee Allen leads Savannah State with 18.5 points per game and also contributes 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest. Donasja Scott is averaging a double-double with 17.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Last year, the Tigers completed the season with a 12-19 overall record and an 8-8 mark in the MEAC.

QUICK LOOK AT WRIGHT STATE... Wright State enters the Savannah Invitational with a 2-1 overall record, with its only loss coming to No. 23 Missouri, 82-80. The Raiders average 89.0 points per game and are out-scoring their opponents by an average of 29.0 points per game. Four players on Wright State's roster are averaging double figures, led by Chelsea Welch's 25.3 points per game. Welch also leads the team in assists (5.0 apg) and is third in rebounding (6.3 rpg) and second in steals (2.0 spg). Emily Vogelpohl leads the Raiders in rebounding with 8.3 boards per game, and also averages 11.3 points.

QUICK LOOK AT STETSON... Stetson enters tournament action with a 2-1 record, with its only loss coming to No. 2 Texas, 95-59. As a team, the Hatters average 76.3 points and shoot 56.1-percent from the floor (83-148). Brittney Chambers leads the offense with 17.7 points per game. Kennedi Colclough is second on the team in scoring (16.7 ppg) and leads the Hatters in rebounding (6.7 rpg) and steals (1.7 spg). McKenna Beach checks in with 12.0 points per contest and a team-best 5.0 assists per game.

FINAL THREE MINUTES PROVE DECISIVE AS NITTANY LIONS PREVAIL IN DEFENSIVE BATTLE BETWEEN PROVIDENCE AND PENN STATE... On Saturday, Nov. 18, the Friars displayed a stingy defense that held Penn State to 23.3 points below their average. However, the Friars could not take advantage of the defensive effort, as they shot a season-low 34.5-percent from the field (19-55), including 32.1-percent from three-point territory (9-28). PSU earned a 60-51 victory. Providence trailed by just two points (51-49) with 3:21 remaining in the game, but the Nittany Lions used a 9-2 scoring advantage down the stretch, hitting 7-10 free-throws to seal the win.

STREAKING... Jovana Nogic and Maddie Jolin have reached double figures in the scoring column during each of Providence's three games this season. Nogic has 39 double-digit scoring games in her career. Her longest stretch of consecutive games in double digits is 10. She currently has scored double digits in four-consecutive games dating back to last season. Jolin has 21 double-digit scoring games in her career. Her longest streak of consecutive games in double figures is four.

SHOOTING THE LIGHTS OUT... Junior guard Maddie Jolin is shooting 50-percent from the field through three games (15-30), including a 9-17 shooting performance beyond the three-point arc (52.9-percent). She shot a season-best 80-percent (4-5) from three-point range in the Friars' win over Northeastern on Nov. 14.

THREE-POINT THREATS... Through three games, Maddie Jolin, Clara Che and Jovana Nogic have combined to shoot 42-percent from three-point territory (22-53). Jolin currently leads the team, having hit 9-17 attempts from deep (.529). Last season, the Friars averaged 6.4 three-point makes per game, with the aforementioned trio leading the way. Jolin, Che and Nogic combined to shoot 39.9-percent (182-457) from beyond the arc in 2016-17 (6.1 three-pointers per game).

SHOWING GLIMPSES... Freshman Chanell Williams has averaged 15.0 minutes per game for the Friars. In her short time on the court, she is averaging 8.3 points, 2.0 assists and a team-best 1.3 steals per game. The speedy guard from the Bronx has been forced to the bench in each of the Friars' three games this season with foul trouble. She's picked up 11 fouls overall, and has fouled out of one game (Northeastern).

SINGLE DIGITS... Each of the Friars' two losses this season have been decided by a single-digit margin. Last season, 12 of the Friars' 18 losses were decided by 10-points or less.

FRIARS ERASE 20-POINT FOURTH QUARTER DEFICIT... The Friars trailed by 15 points heading into the fourth quarter on Nov. 14 against Northeastern, and trailed by as many as 20 (71-51) with 9:09 remaining in the game. Providence used a 15-0 scoring run to stun the Huskies and out-scored Northeastern, 35-20, overall in the quarter to force overtime. The overtime featured four lead changes and three ties, but the Friars prevailed in the end by a score of 98-95.

FOURTH QUARTER MAGIC... The Friars shot a blistering 86.7-percent from the field in the fourth quarter against Northeastern on Nov. 14. Providence hit 13 of its 15 shots, including 4-4 from three-point territory.

MADDIE JOLIN SPARKS IMPROBABLE COMEBACK... Junior guard Maddie Jolin tallied 18 of her career-high 23 points in the fourth quarter, as the Friars mounted an improbable come-back victory against Northeastern on Nov. 14. The Huskies led 71-51 with 9:09 remaining in the game, before Jolin rattled off 10-consecutive points en route to a 15-0 run by the Friars. Jolin shot 6-7 from the field in the final quarter, including a 3-3 performance from three-point territory. She also hit 2-3 free-throw attempts. For the game, Jolin was 8-11 from the field, including 4-5 from beyond the arc.

NOGIC DRAINS CAREER-HIGH 31 POINTS... Jovana Nogic led the Friars with a career-best 31 points on Nov. 14 against Northeastern. She complemented a red-hot Maddie Jolin in the fourth quarter with nine points, and took control in the overtime, scoring eight of the Friars' 13 points in the extra session. For the game, Nogic shot 12-19 from the field and hit 6-6 shots from the free-throw line.

THIRTY SOMETHING... Jovana Nogic is the first Friar to score 30+ points in a game since Tori Rule '15 dropped 30 points against Marquette on March 7, 2015. Nogic's 31 points against Northeastern are also the most points scored by a Friar since March 8, 2013, when Rule tallied 35 points against Georgetown.

NOGIC HITS FOR 20+ IN BACK-TO-BACK GAMES... Jovana Nogic eclipsed the 20-point plateau in two games this season. She opened the year with 20 points against Columbia (11/10) and followed with a career-high 31 points against Northeastern (11/14). Nogic has nine 20+ point games and hit for back-to-back 20-point games for the first time in her career.

DOUBLE-TROUBLE... Junior college transfer Ny-Asia Franklin recorded the first double-double of her career with the Friars on Nov. 14 against Northeastern. She posted 15 points and 12 boards against the Huskies. In the fourth quarter and overtime, she combined for seven points and seven rebounds. Franklin joins Allegra Botteghi (4) and Maddie Jolin (1) as the only active players on the current roster to record a double-double.

FRIARS IN OVERTIME GAMES UNDER JIM CROWLEY... Providence is 2-2 in overtime games under the direction of second-year Friars Head Coach Jim Crowley. In his first season with the program (2016-17), Providence posted a 1-2 mark in overtime games. The Friars are 2-0 in overtime games when they score 90+ points.

JOVANA NOGIC NAMED TO ANN MEYERS DRYSDALE AWARD WATCH LIST... Junior Jovana Nogic was announced as a candidate for the inaugural Ann Meyers Drysdale Award. The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced its watch list, comprised of 20 players, on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Named after the first player, male or female, to be named to the All-America Team in four-straight seasons, the annual award recognizes the top shooting guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. Nogic led the BIG EAST Conference and finished 19th in NCAA Division I in three-point field goal percentage (.429) and 20th in three-point field goals made per game (3.03). She ranked second in the BIG EAST and 25th in the nation in three-point field goals made (91).Additionally, Nogic hit at least one three-point bucket in 28 of the Friars' 30 games. She knocked down three-or-more three-point attempts in 18 games, including six games with five-or-more makes from beyond the arc. On Jan. 27, 2017, Nogic recorded a career-best seven three-point makes (7-11) vs. eventual BIG EAST Tournament Champion Marquette. Her shooting prowess also extends to the free-throw line, where she knocked down 33-of-36 attempts (.917). Nogic is one of five players to land on the watch list from the BIG EAST Conference, joining Ashton Millender (DePaul), Natisha Hiedeman (Marquette), Allazia Blockton (Marquette) and Akina Wellere (St. John's). The Selection Committee for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award is composed of top women's college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers. By mid-February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2018 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award will be narrowed to just 10. In March, five finalists will be presented to Ms. Drysdale and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. Fans also will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite finalist at www.hoophallawards.com.

HOW THE FRIARS FARED IN 2016-17... The Friars finished the season with a 12-18 overall record and a 4-14 mark in the BIG EAST Conference. The Friars' 12 wins marked a seven-game improvement in the win column, compared to the previous season when they finished 5-24 (2015-16). It also marks the most wins overall in a single-season since 2011-12, when the team finished the year 13-17. In conference play, Providence's four victories marked the most since 2011-12 when the team finished 5-11.

FRIARS PICKED TO FINISH NINTH IN BIG EAST PRESEASON COACHES' POLL... The Friars were picked to finish ninth in the 2017-18 BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll. The announcement was made at the league's annual media day on Oct. 18 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

HOT START... Providence opened the 2016-17 season with seven-straight victories (7-0). It marked the first 7-0 start for Providence since the 1990-91 season, when the team also began the year 7-0.

LOSSES BY 10 POINTS OR LESS... Twelve of the Friars' 18 losses were decided by 10 points or less. The Friars posted a 4-12 record in games decided by 10 points or less, including a 2-7 mark in games decided by five points or less. In BIG EAST regular-season play, nine of the Friars' 14 losses were decided by 10 points or less.

HIGHEST FINISH IN BIG EAST SINCE 1997-98... Providence finished in a three-way tie for seventh place in the BIG EAST Conference regular-season standings. It marks the highest finish for the program since conference realignment, and best finish overall in league play since 1997-98 when the team finished fourth in the BIG EAST 7 division.

DIALED IN FROM DEEP... The Friars set the program's single-season record for three-point field goal percentage. Providence shot 37.4-percent from beyond the arc (192-514), topping the previous record of 36.0-percent set during the 1991-92 campaign.

MORE FROM THREE... The Friars hit 192 three-pointers during the 2016-17 season. It marked the third-highest total for three-point makes in a single season. During the 1994-95 season, the Friars hit a program-record 235 three-pointers. In 1989-90, the team finished with 198 triples. Providence also attempted 514 three-point shots this season, marking the sixth-highest total for the Friars in a single-season.

NOGIC HOLDS SINGLE-SEASON RECORD FOR THREE-POINTERS... Jovana Nogic set the Providence College single-season record for three-pointers, with 91, during the 2016-17 season. The previous record was held by Julie Wheeler '98, which she set during the 1994-95 season, with 82.

FRIARS TO HOST SECOND ANNUAL OCEAN STATE TIP-OFF TOURNAMENT... Providence College will serve as host of the second annual Ocean State Tip-Off Tournament on Dec. 2-3 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. The tournament features all four NCAA Division I women's basketball programs in the State of Rhode Island. On Dec. 2, Providence will host Brown at 12:00 p.m., in a rematch of last year's championship game. Rhode Island and Bryant will play in the second game of the afternoon at 2:00 p.m. On Dec. 3, the consolation game is set for 12:00 p.m. and the two winners from the opening day of action will tip-off at 2:00 p.m. in the championship game. All four games of the tournament will be broadcast locally on YurView, in addition to the internet via Friars All-Access (www.Friars.com).

WHAT'S NEXT... The Friars will return to New England and will face Yale in New Haven, Conn. on Wednesday, Nov. 29. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. The game will be played at John J. Lee Amphitheater and will be streamed live on ESPN3/WatchESPN. Live streaming audio also will be available via Providence's athletic website via Friars All-Access.
