Hugh Armstrong Named BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week

The BIG EAST Conference announced its BIG EAST Weekly track and field honors today (April 6). Junior Hugh Armstrong (Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland) was named BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week for the first time.

Armstrong earned the honor after running a huge 39-second personal best in section two of the men's 10,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational on April 1. Armstrong's time of 29:16.73 ranked him as the 10th-best 10,000 meter runner in the history of the Providence men's track program. His time also ranks 10th in the East and 30th in the NCAA.
