CINCINNATI, OHIO - The No. 23/20 Providence College men's basketball team was defeated at Xavier, 85-74, on Wednesday, Feb. 17 in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.



In an action packed first half, Xavier outscored the Friars, 52-37. The two teams combined to hit 13 three pointers. Xavier shot 17-33 from the field (52 percent) while the Friars made 10 of 26 shots (39 percent). Junior Kris Dunn (New London, Conn.) led the Friars with 12 points. Sophomore Rodney Bullock (Hampton, Va.) added 11 points and was 3-4 from three point territory. Xavier's Trevon Bluiett recorded 17 points to pace the Musketeers in the first 20 minutes of action.



The Friars opened the second half on an 11-2 run and cut the Xavier lead to seven points (54-47) when freshman Ryan Fazekas (Chesterton, Ind.) hit a three. Unfortunately, the Musketeers went on a 10-0 run and built a 17-point lead with 11:58 left in the game. The Friars got within six points several times in the final five minutes of the game, but were not able to get any closer. Xavier closed out the 11 point win in the final minute of the game.



Dunn finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Sophomore Ben Bentil (Wilmington, Del.) registered 17 points and six rebounds. Bullock had 13 points and eight rebounds.



Bluiett finished with 23 points to lead the Musketeers. Myles Davis had 11 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists for Xavier.



Providence will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. at Seton Hall on FS1.​
