BOSTON, MASS. - The Providence College men's and women's Indoor Track teams opened up their seasons at the Fordham Classic and the Boston University Season Opener. The Friars competed at Fordham on Dec. 2nd and at the BU Season Opener on Dec. 3rd.
Sarah Mary Collins (Basel, Switzerland), Brianna Ilarda (Perth, Australia), Hugh Armstrong (Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland), and Stephen Robertson (Wakefield, Mass) carried their Cross Country fitness into the Indoor track season by competing in the 5k at the BU Season Opener. Collins (15:54.46) and Ilarda (15:55.91) finished 4th and 5th, respectively. Ilarda's time was a 23 second personal best.
Armstrong and Robertson both competed in the fastest heat of the 5k. Armstrong had a strong race, finishing second overall in a time of 14:06.43. Armstrong was the top collegiate in the race and chopped three seconds off of his previous best. Robertson finished 5th overall in a time of 14:19.75. This was a 30 second personal best for Robertson.
At the Fordham Classic, 10 Friars finished in the top three in their event.
