NIAGARA, N.Y. - The Providence College volleyball team lost to West Virginia, 3-0, on Saturday at the Purple Eagle Invitational. Providence now moves to 0-7 on the year while West Virginia improves to 6-1. The Mountaineers won the sets, 25-18, 25-13 and 25-15.

Sophomore Marina Rose (Coventry, Conn.) led the Friars with five kills. Junior Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) tallied 13 assists while Sophomore Michelle Cruz (Midland Park, N.J.) had eight digs.

Cruz and Wiesler were named to the Purple Eagle Invitational All-Tournament Team following the match.

West Virginia was led by Jordan Anderson and Nikki Attea who recorded 17 and 10 kills, respectively. Limprini Konstantinidou compiled 44 assists while Anna Panagiotakopoulos had 13 digs.

The Friars return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at cross-town rival Brown. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
