Providence, R.I. - The Providence College women's soccer team hosted Northeastern on Thursday, Aug. 28 at the Ray Treacy Track. After 110 minutes of play, the game ended in a 0-0 tie. Providence moves to 0-1-2 on the season, while Northeastern is now 1-1-1.

Providence and Northeastern battled back and forth, but neither team was able to find the back of the net. In the first half, senior Allison Walton (Brunswick, Maine) had the best Friar chance, but her shot went just wide of the net in the 11th minute.

In the 99th minute, sophomore goalkeeper Kristyn Shea (Piscataway, N.J.) had a diving save on the left side of the net to preserve the tie. She totaled seven saves in the match to earn the shutout.

Northeastern goalkeeper Paige Burnett played all 110 minutes in goal and recorded one save.

"The team showed tremendous fight and character," Head Coach Sam Lopes said. "I am proud of their growth in a short period of time as we build an identity and culture within the Providence College Women's Soccer program."

Providence returns to action at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31 at the University of Massachusetts.
