Men's Track Runs at NCAA East Preliminary On Thursday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Providence College men's track team competed at the NCAA Outdoor Track East Preliminary Championship in Jacksonville, Fla., on Thursday, May 29. Sophomores Harvey Dixon (Aldershot, England) and Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand) each ran the preliminaries in the 1,500 meters. Dixon placed 17th overall (11th in the fourth heat) in a time of 3:47.77 and Oakley finished 28th overall (seventh in the third heat) in a time of 3:50.23.

In the 10,000 meters junior Brian Doyle (Swansea, Mass.) finished 34th in 31:29.39.

The Friars will not run on Friday, but will return to action on Saturday with graduate student Julian Saad (Trumbull, Conn.) running the 5,000 meters at 8:05 p.m. ET. On the women's side senior Laura Nagel (Napier, New Zealand), sophomore Sarah Mary Collins (Basel, Switzerland) and freshman Catarina Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) will run at 8:45 p.m. ET in the 5,000 meters.
