Men's Track Begins Competition At New England Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The Providence College men's track and field team began competition at the New England Championships today, Feb. 28. The Friars saw a first-place finish in the 800 meter run preliminary run.
Sophomore Joseph Vercollone (Pembroke, Mass.) captured first in the 800 meter run with an IC4A Championship qualifying time of 1:51.83. Vercollone's time was a personal-best performance.
Classmate Austin King (Kempton, Pa.) competed in the 400 meter dash, where he finished 11th overall and second in his respective heat. King's time of 48.99 was an IC4A Championship qualifying and personal-best time.
The Friars will continue action at the New England Championships tomorrow, March 1 in Boston, Mass.
