TALKING POINTS
• The Friars and Huskies close out their Hockey East series at 4:05 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6 at Schneider Arena.
• Providence is coming off a 5-1 win over Northeastern on Wednesday night (Dec. 3) at Matthews Arena.
• Mauermann has three goals in the last two games, including two game-winning goals and a short-handed tally.
• Providence's five goals against the Huskies marked its highest goal output of the season and its first five-goal game since a 5-4 win over UMass Lowell (Jan. 24, 2014).
• With 26 saves against Northeastern,
Jon Gillies recorded his 43rd career win - which moved him past Chris Terreri (42) for the sixth-most wins all-time at Providence.
• The Friars have won four games in a row for the first time this season and for the first time since winning six games in a row last season (Feb. 21, 2014 - March 15, 2014).
• Since the beginning of November, Providence has won seven of its last nine games, while giving up just six goals in those nine games.

RECAP: PROVIDENCE 5, NORTHEASTERN 1
• The Friars scored five unanswered goals in the second and third periods to defeat Northeastern, 5-1, on Wednesday night at Matthews Arena (1,634).
• Clay Witt finished with 26 saves in the Northeastern (3-10-1, 2-6-1) goal.
• With two goals and an assist,
Ross Mauermann posted his first multi-point game of the season and the 19th of his career.
• With two goals and an assist,
Trevor Mingoia recorded his career three-point game and his first-career two-goal game and it also marked Mingoia's fourth multi-point game of the season.
• After posting three consecutive shutouts for the first time in program history, Providence's shutout streak ended at 239:32, while
Jon Gillies shutout streak was snapped at 179:32.
• Providence's successful penalty kill streak, which stretched back to Nov. 7 versus Merrimack, was snapped at 29 penalty kills in a row.
MAUERMANN HEATING UP
• After posting two assists in the first 13 games of the season,
Ross Mauermann has three goals and an assist in the last two games.
• He notched the lone goal in Providence's 1-0 win over Boston College (Nov. 29) and then put up two goals and an assist at Northeastern (Dec. 3).
• It was his first multi-point game of the season and the 19th of his career.
• Both goals proved to be game winners and he now ranks tied for second among active players with 12 career game-winning goals (1. Kyle Rau, Minnesota, 19; 2.

THE NORTHEASTERN SERIES
• Last season, Northeastern took the series with a 1-0-1 mark, including a 2-1 overtime win at Schneider Arena on Jan. 7.
• The Friars are 4-1-1 in their last six games against the Huskies.
GILLIES NAMED HOCKEY EAST GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH
• Gillies went 5-2-0 in November with three shutouts en route to earning his third career Goaltender of the Month honor.
• He posted a 0.86 goals-against average and a .973 save percentage as he turned aside 216 of the 222 shots he faced in 417:18 of work and closed the month with back-to-back shutouts.
• Some of Gillies' November highlights included a 43-save performance to lead the Friars to a 1-0 win against No. 11/12 Boston College (Nov. 29) and a 37-save showing at then No. 6/6 Boston University to help Providence to a 2-1 win (Nov. 1).
• Dating back to Providence's game against Vermont on Nov. 15, Gillies' personal shutout streak stands at 161:24, while Gillies and Ellis have combined to keep the opposition off the scoreboard for the last 221:24.
• His three shutouts this season are tied for the third-most in the country and is the top total in Hockey East.
• His eight career shutouts in Hockey East play rank tied for sixth in league history.
