Women's Tennis Falls To Brown, 4-1

Providence, R.I. - The Providence College women's tennis team fell to Brown 4-1 on Sunday, Feb. 17. It was the first loss in spring play for the Friars. The loss brings the Friars overall record to 6-2 and 2-1 in spring play.
The teams played a four-and-one format with Brown taking the doubles match and claiming victories at the No. 1, 2 and 3 singles positions.
Sophomore Karen Ramirez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and freshman Hannah Zangari (Saunderstown, R.I.) fell to Hannah Camhi and Ashley Noyes (8-2) in the only doubles match of the day.
At No. 1 singles the Friars saw senior Marisela Aviles-Duron (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) drop her first match at the No. 1 position this season. Aviles-Duron fell to Misia Krasowski 6-1 and 6-1.
Junior Maria Clara Bernardez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) was defeated by Sarah Kandath at No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-1). Freshman Alana Prinos (Foxborough, Mass.) also fell in her singles match at the No. 3 position to Nikita Uberoi (6-4, 6-2).
Sophomore Taylor Corder (Corinth, Miss.) claimed the lone Friar point in the match. Corder defeated Nimita Uberoi at No. 4 singles (6-1, 6-2).
The Friars are back in action Sunday, Feb. 24 at 5:30 p.m. when they take on NYIT in East Providence, R.I.
