PITTSBURGH, Pa. --The Providence College volleyball team (1-5) fell to the Duquesne University Dukes (4-1) in straight sets 25-13, 25-15 and 25-17 in the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational on Friday, August 31. The Friars will play Loyola in their second match of the day at 7:00 p.m.

Sophomore Colleen McCollom (Indian Head Park, Ill.) led the Friars with eight kills and collected nine digs during the match, while classmate Anna Russian (Round Rock, Texas) garnered seven kills and two blocks. Freshman Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) tallied a team-high 18 assists and five digs, while senior Cassie Muzzonigro (Gibsonia, Pa.) led all players with 15 digs.

Tomorrow, the Friars are slated to play at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. versus Norfolk State and co-host Robert Morris, respectfully. The Friars last played Norfolk State in 2010 during the Norfolk State Tournament and suffered a 3-1 loss.

Providence will play its first match at home this season on Sunday, October 7 versus America East foe Stony Brook. This match will mark the first athletic event played in the renovated Mullaney Gymnasium in Alumni Hall.
