HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. --The Providence College volleyball team fell to UC Riverside on Saturday, August 25 in straight sets (25-21, 25-20, 25-14) in Hempstead, N.Y.

The Friars (0-4) were led by their All-Tournament selection sophomore Mackenzie Ziegler (Portage, Wis.) with 10 kills and a .412 hitting percentage. Freshman Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) continued her strong start to the season after picking up 24 assists in the contest, while senior Cassie Muzzonigro (Gibsonia, Pa.) and sophomore Kelly Ashmore (St. Louis, Mo.) led the team with seven digs a piece.

Up next for the Friars is a mid-week matchup with St. Peter's on Wednesday, August 29 at 7:00 p.m. Following the match, the team will travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. to play in the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational.

Providence will play its first match at home this season on Sunday, October 7 versus America East foe Stony Brook. This match will mark the first athletic event played in the renovated Mullaney Gymnasium in Alumni Hall.
