PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College men's basketball Head Coach Ed Cooley will be honored at his alma mater, Central High School, as the school welcomes him home in an event before the school's varsity boy's basketball games on Friday, January 27. The ceremony will take place at 6:00 p.m. and the varsity game between Central and Hendricken is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. The event and game is open to the public.
The Welcome Home Ed Cooley event will provide an acknowledgement of his accomplishments throughout his tenure as a player and a coach. Cooley's coach at Central, Senator Harold Metts, will speak about his years coaching Cooley. School Principal John Hunt, Central basketball Head Coach Todd Keefe and Frank Rose and Tom Connor, who were Senator Metts assistants when Cooley attended Central, also will participate in the ceremony.
