PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was announced today that Providence College Athletics and the Men's Basketball Vision Team will hold the first annual Vision Cup Golf Tournament on Tuesday, October 4th at Wannamoisett Country Club in East Providence, R.I. The Vision Cup will be an annual event in which all the proceeds will go to supporting the Providence College Men's Basketball program.
There will be only 18 foursomes sold for this event. The cost is $3,000 per foursome or $1,000 per individual golfer. The cost includes continental breakfast, 18 holes of golf, buffet lunch, Exclusive Nike Vision Cup jacket and a picture with men's basketball Head Coach Ed Cooley and his staff. The winning foursome of the tournament will have the opportunity to take a charter trip with the team during the 2011-12 season. Every player in the Vision Cup will have the opportunity to purchase a seat on the charter for an additional $1,000.
At the event, Coach Cooley will speak about his vision and goal of winning a national championship at Providence College. A live auction will be held at the lunch. For more details, please visit Friars.com or call Associate Athletic Director Steven Napolillo at (401) 865-2677.
"The Vision Team is a group of people with the sole interest to support Providence College Basketball and help improve the program," Vision Member Karl Anderson said. "Identifying key areas of need and building the critical infrastructure required for a successful program is the long term focus and the Vision Cup is important as it helps us reach that goal. This Vision Cup Tournament brings PC Athletics and supporters together for a fantastic day while raising important revenue for the program. This year the funds will offset the cost of one of the team charters."
