Box Score

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College women's soccer finished up its non-conference schedule and earned its third consecutive victory to improve to 6-1 with a 2-0 win over Bryant. Sophomore Amanda Webster (Saugus, Mass.) tallied the game-winning goal in the 44th minute. Freshman Stephanie Leonard (Framingham, Mass.) added an insurance tally in the 75th minute to secure the victory for the Friars.

With the victory, the Friars continue their undefeated streak against the Bulldogs, leading the all-time series, 11-0. The six non-conference wins is the most for the Friars under Head Coach Jim McGirr and the most since 2002.

The game remained scoreless until graduate student Jill Camburn (Doylestown, Pa.) got the ball to Webster who put the ball in the back of the net. It is her team leading fourth goal of the season and first game winner in the black and white. In seven games this year, Webster has notched eight points on four goals.

Leonard secured the victory for the Friars in the 75th minute when she scored off an assist by junior Laura DiClemente (Blue Bell, Pa.). Leonard is now tied for second on the team in goals with three.

Providence finished the game with a 14-6 edge in shots. Junior goalkeeper Caitlin Walker (Metuchen, N.J.) earned the victory, her fourth of the season. It also marks the fifth shutout of the season for the Friars, who have given up only five goals on the season.

The Friars are back in action on Friday, September 17 when they travel to Storrs, Conn. to open up BIG EAST Conference play against the University of Connecticut at 7:00 p.m.
