PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior guard Marshon Brooks scored a game and season-high 26 points to lead the Providence College men's basketball team (6-1) to a 92-57 victory over Central Connecticut (4-2) Monday night at the Dunkin Donuts Center.

The Friars held the Blue Devils to just 20 points in the second half. The Blue Devils' 20 second half points were the fewest PC has allowed this year over a 20-minute period.

CCSU's 57-point output marked the fourth time this season the Friars have held an opponent to under 60 points this season. The Friars also forced the Blue Devils into 19 turnovers.

Brooks (Stone Mountain, Ga.) notched his third 20-point game of the year as he connected on 11-of-16 from the field. Teammates Gerard Coleman (Boston, Mass.), Duke Mondy (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Vincent Council (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also scored in double figures as they finished with 14, 13 and 11 points, respectively. Mondy's 13 points came off the bench and were a career-high.

Providence jumped out to a 13-2 lead. Brooks led all scorers during the stretch as he scored five points, including a thunderous one-hand dunk, which gave the Friars an 11-2 lead at the time.

CCSU responded in a big way as it went on a 16-2 to take three-point lead (18-15) with just under 10 minutes to go in first half. The Blue Devils went on to increase their lead to 31-26 with just under five minutes remaining.

The Friars closed out the half on a high note as it went on to outscore the Blue Devils 12-6 to take a 38-37 lead into the locker room. Heading into the break, PC held a 22-18 advantage on the glass.

The Friars maintained a slight two-point advantage (47-45) with 15 minutes to go in the game. During the first five minutes of the second half, no team led by more than four points.

Providence made its move with just under 15 minutes to go in the game as it went on an incredible 36-4 run over then next 10 minutes to increase its lead to 83-49 with just under five minutes to go in the game. Brooks led the Friar charge as he scored 10 points during the 10-minute stretch.

PC returns to action on Wednesday as it welcomes Northeastern to the Dunkin Donuts Center for a 7 p.m. tipoff. The game can be seen live on Cox Communications.
