PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College women's soccer (8-3-2, 2-2-2 BIG EAST) tied USF (7-3-2, 2-2-2 BIG EAST) on Friday, October 8. The Friars struck first when sophomore Amanda Webster (Saugus, Mass.) scored her sixth goal of the season. USF would answer with its own goal when Chelsea Klotz scored in the 34th minute.

Providence controlled play in the first half, keeping a majority of possession and holding an edge in shots, 11-5. Webster scord her sixth goal of the season in the 22nd minute after stealing the ball from a USF defender. She took the ball to the top of the 18-yard box and buried the ball in the top left corner of the net. USF responded 12 minutes later. Providence failed to clear a corner kick and Chelsea Klotz rocketed a shot off the cross bar and into the back of the net to tie the game, 1-1. Klotz has notched 10 goals on the season.

In the second half, Providence held and edge in shots, 4-2, but neither team could get on the board. The game remained tied, 1-1, and headed into overtime.

Webster almost put the game away four minutes into the first overtime period when she dribbled through the 18-yard box, but missed just wide right. The second overtime period remained scoreless and both teams earned a point for the tie.

The Friars are back in action on Sunday, October 10, when they host Marquette University at noon on PC's Glay Field. The game, which will be televised locally by Cox Sports, will air via tape delay on Tuesday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m.
