Men's Track And Field Competes at Uconn Invitational

STORRS, Conn. - The Providence men's track team continued the outdoor season on Saturday, April 4 at the University of Connecticut. The Friars placed 1-2-3 in the 800 meter race; Senior Charles Dewey (Worcester, Mass.) was the winner of the race.
Dewey ran a time of 1:52.30, with freshman teammate Dominic Channon (Nelson, New Zealand) in second-place (1:53.39), and Senior Nick Berluti (Westwood, Mass.) in third (1:56.12). In the 1,500 meter race, Senior Richard Yeates (Dublin, Ireland) placed second (4:04.54). In the 5,000 meters, Junior Tom Webb (Williston, Vt.) placed first in a winning time of 14:52.23.
In the sprint events, Sophomore Thomas Manglaviti (Southhampton, N.Y.) placed third in the 100 meter dash, in a time of 11.23. Sophomore Brian Stannard (East Longmeadow, Mass.) finished fourth in the 400 meters in a time of 51.19. The men compete next at the Quinipiac Invitational at Yale University on Wednesday, April 8, 2009.
