WEST HARTFORD, CONN. - The Providence College volleyball team (10-14) fell to the University of Hartford (7-16, 0-5) by the score of 3-1 on Wednesday, October 21 in West Hartford, Conn. Sophomore middle blocker Lauren Fletcher (Syracuse, N.Y.) led Providence with 14 kills and hit at a solid .385 clip.

The Friars and Hawks played a marathon first set, with the Hawks prevailing, 31-29. PC rebounded to win the second set, 25-21. Hartford took the final two sets, 25-19 and 25-15 to record the match victory.

In addition to Fletcher's solid attack numbers, senior outside hitter Abby Majewski (Sunderland, Mass.) notched 10 kills for the Friars while sophomore middle blocker Shelagh Dolan (Westford, Mass.) posted seven kills and added four total blocks, including two solo. Sophomore setter Carly Morrison (Larkspur, Calif.) had another strong all-around night, recording 35 assists, eight digs and two service aces. Defensively, freshman libero Cassie Muzzonigro led the Friars with 14 digs, while junior defensive specialist (Norwood, N.J.) added six digs and a match-high four service aces.

Hartford enjoyed a 59-to-43 advantage in kills for the match and posted 11 service aces to the Friars' eight. Hallie Fullagar led the Hawks with 14 kills while setter Lindsay Ford recorded a match-high 45 assists.

The Friars are back in action on Tuesday, October 27 with a 7:00 p.m. matchup with intra-state rival Rhode Island in Kingston, R.I. The match will be shown on Cox Sports 3 in Rhode Island.
