The Providence College volleyball team beat Manhattan, 3-1, on Wednesday, September 24 in Mullaney Gymnasium. The Friars won the match with game scores of 20-25, 25-22, 25-19 and 25-17. PC moves to 8-8 with the victory, while the Lady Jaspers fall to 1-9.
Co-captain Sara Sheehan recorded a double-double for Providence with 32 assists and 12 digs. With her 24th assist, Sheehan moved past Susan Fanning and into third on PC's all-time assists list. The 5-9 setter now has 2,806 assists for her career.
Senior Jeanette Toney also registered a double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs. For the year, Toney ranks second on the team in kills (147) and fourth in digs (62). The match marks the first time this season that two Friars have recorded double-doubles.
Providence returns to action Wednesday, October 1, at home against Fairleigh Dickinson. The match will be played in Mullaney Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.
