The Providence College volleyball team lost to Fairleigh Dickinson, 3-0, on Wednesday, October 1. The Knights won the match with game scores of 25-23, 25-11 and 25-20. With the defeat, Providence falls to 8-9, while FDU improves to 10-7.
Senior Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) posted her second consecutive double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs. The 5-10 middle blocker now has 159 kills and 73 digs on the year.
Leading the Friar defense was senior Kelly Krahenbuhl with 11 digs. The Larkspur, Colo., native has registered 214 digs on the season and has posted double-digit dig totals in each of her last five matches. Freshman Chelsey Thompson (Scottsdale, Ariz.) contributed a strong all-around effort for Providence with three kills, three digs and two service aces.
PC returns to action this weekend at the Cougar Invitational on Friday, October 3 and Saturday, October 4 in Chicago, Ill. In the tournament, the Friars face Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and battle Quinnipiac (12:00 p.m.) and host Chicago State (3:00 p.m.) on Saturday.
