The Providence College volleyball team beat Coppin State, 3-0, on Saturday, September 20 in the team's second match of the Fifth Annual Friar Classic. PC won the match with game scores of 25-16, 25-10 and 25-23. The win moves Providence to 7-7, while the Eagles fall to 0-7.
Senior setter Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) posted 26 assists and added three service aces as the distributor of the Friar attack. With her third ace, Sheehan moved past Aileen Koprowski and into second place on Providence's all-time aces list with 147. Senior Elizabeth Flynn (Bellerose, N.Y.) continued to pace the Friar offense, registering 14 kills and a blistering .440 hitting percentage against the Eagles. Defensively, senior Kelly Krahenbuhl (Larkspur, Colo.) recorded 13 digs and contributed two service aces.
The Friars play another match in the Friar Classic today at 5:00 p.m. against Texas-El Paso.
