Final Results From The BIG EAST Outdoor Track Championships

The Providence College men's and women's outdoor track teams competed on the final day of the BIG EAST Championships on May 6. The Friar men's squad was led by junior Max Smith (Dunedin, New Zealand) who won the 1,500 meter finals. The women's team was led by graduate student Aine Hoban (Wakefiled, England) who finished second in the 5,000 meter finals.
Smith ran the 1,500 meter finals in 3:49.03. Freshman Hayden McLaren (Christchurch, New Zealand) placed eleventh in the 1,500 meter finals in a time of 3:51.83. Junior James Lourenco (West Warwick, R.I.) placed seventh in the 800 meter finals with a time of 1:53.51. The 4x800 relay team comprised of senior Nick Weidman (Sudbury, Mass.), McLaren, Lourenco, and Smith qualified for the IC4A's with a time of 7:40.89 placing ninth.
Hoban ran the 5,000 meters in a time of 16:09.72. With that time she has qualified for the ECAC's and the NCAA Regionals. Sophomore Danette Doetzel (Macklin, Sask.) placed fourth in the 5,000 meters (16:50.49) also qualifying for the ECAC's and NCAA Regionals. Freshman Krystal Douglas (Harpswell, Maine) finished the 5,000 meter race in 17:11.22, qualifying her for the ECAC's. The 4x800 team comprised of senior Meghan Owen (Danielson, Conn.), sophomore Katherine Schock (Norwood, Mass.), sophomore Katie DiCamillo (Garden City South, N.Y.) and sophomore Katie Elliot (Penfield, N.Y.) placed ninth in a time of 9:12.42. With that time, the team has qualified for the ECAC Championships.
