PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) -Matee Ajavon had 23 points, six rebounds and four assists Tuesday night to lead No. 21 Rutgers to a 69-34 victory over Providence.

Epiphanny Prince snapped out of a minor slump with 14 points for Rutgers (18-7, 11-3 Big East), which has won four straight and 13 of its last 15.

Chelsea Marandola scored 14 points to lead Providence (13-14, 3-11), which lost for the 10th time in 11 games.

With Rutgers leading 14-8, the Friars committed five straight turnovers that resulted in 10 straight Rutgers points.

Providence, which scored just six points over the final 14:46 of the first half, trailed 24-11 with 10:28 remaining and then went 10:18 without scoring. Rutgers led 35-14 at halftime despite playing with four freshmen for the final 3 minutes.

Providence shot just 27.3 percent in the half and committed 12 turnovers that led to 14 Rutgers points. The Knights used their size advantage to score 22 points in the paint, including 11 second-chance points.

Rutgers, which is bidding for a first-round bye in the Big East tournament, continued to build its lead in the second half and opened its biggest advantage at 69-32.
