PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island (Ticker) -- Khara Smith scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead No. 14 DePaul to a 74-68 victory over Providence in Big East Conference action.
Allie Quigley added 18 points and six assists for the Blue Demons (23-5, 10-5 Big East), who have won five straight after a three-game slide and kept themselves in a tie for third place in the league standings.
DePaul shot just 31 percent (12-of-39) in the first half but still held a 32-28 lead at the break. It improved in all areas after intermission, making 3-of-4 from the arc and 15-of-18 (83 percent) from the line to hang on.
Caprice Smith chipped in 11 points and four rebounds in just 19 minutes off the bench for the Blue Demons, who scored 23 points off 20 forced turnovers.
Shauna Snyder led the Friars (8-18, 3-12) with 19 points but needed 22 shots to do it. Gayle Nwafili chipped in 17 points, six blocks and two steals.
