TAMPA, Fla. -- The Providence College men's basketball team was defeated by Florida State, 92-62, on Friday, December 29 in Tampa, Fla. Freshman Dwain Williams led the Friars with 15 points.

The Friars entered the game without star point-guard Sharaud Curry, who was suspended for a violation of team rules. For the first five minutes of the game the Friars looked like they would not miss a beat without their sophomre standout as PC jumped out to an 11-point lead (16-5) at the 15:11 mark. However, FSU began to chip away at the lead and with 6:13 left in the first half the Seminoles took their first lead (27-26) and never trailed again in the game. FSU continued to build on its lead and held a 11-point advantage (45-34) at halftime. Senior Herbert Hill scored 10 points to pace the Friars in the first half.

In the second half, PC's offense struggled. In the first six minutes of the half, FSU went on a 16-3 run to put the game out of reach. PC was not able to get the lead under 20 the remainder of the game. Jason Rich led FSU with a game-high 17 points.

The Friars will return to action on Tuesday, January 2 versus Longwood at the Dunkin' Donuts Center at 7:30 p.m.
