PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College Men's Basketball team (10-3) improved to 10-1 at home and concluded its non-conference slate with a 107-69 win over Longwood on Jan. 2 at the Dunkin Donuts Center.
The 107-point output marked the second straight home game in which PC scored 100-points or more. The last time PC scored 100-plus points in two consecutive home games was during the 1990-91 season.
The Friars finished the second half with 66 points, which set a team record for points in a half.
Sophomore forward Jonathan Kale (Mattapan, Mass./St. Andrews) scored a game and career-high 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Freshman guard Jamal Barney (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern) also notched a career-high point total as he poured in 13.
In addition, senior center Herbert Hill (Kinston, N.C./Kinston) scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to collect his third double-double this season and seventh of his career.
The Friars took an early 13-5, but the Lancers would fight back to close the PC advantage to 13-10. The Friars would respond as they went on an 18-3 run over the next five minutes to increase their advantage to 31-13. During the run, Hill scored eight of his first half nine points.
Longwood would come back to close the PC advantage to 41-31 heading into the locker room.
PC connected on 16-of-31 of its field goals to shoot 51 percent in the first half, while Longwood connected on just 34 percent of its shots.
The Lancers opened the second half strong as they closed the PC lead to 43-36, but Longwood would get no closer for the rest of the game.
