PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Weyinmi Efejuku scored 26 points as Providence built a big lead and held on to beat Harvard 101-92 on Friday night.
The Friars (9-2) got a triple-double from Geoff McDermott, who had 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Sharaud Curry added 22 points for Providence.
Providence, which led by as many as 26 points in the second half, has won three straight and eight of its last nine games.
Jim Goffredo led four Harvard players in double figures with 21 points, 13 of which came in the second half. Goffredo's 3-pointer with 4:21 to play made the score 86-75. Harvard pulled within seven late in the game.
But Curry, who scored 17 points in the second half, prevented the Crimson from getting any closer with an assist and four free throws in the final minute.
It was the most points scored and allowed by the Friars this season.
The Friars led 34-22 with 6:41 left in the first half after a 9-0 run highlighted by back-to-back 3-pointers by Efejuku. Another Efejuku 3-pointer put the Friars ahead 47-31.
Providence made 21 of 32 shots on its way to a 52-34 halftime lead. Herbert Hill finished with 16 points for the Friars.
Drew Housman had 16 points and six assists for the Crimson.
