PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team was defeated by Central Connecticut State, 3-0 on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Mullaney Gymnasium. The Friars finish the seas on with a record of 14-15, which marks the highest win total since 2000 when PC recorded 16 wins. CCSU extends its winning streak to six games and improves to 17-7. CCSU swept the match by the scores of 30-17, 32-30, 30-23.
Central Connecticut State was led by junior Milou Saxton (Balzac, Alta) with 11 kills. Senior Brynn Good (Surrey, B.C.) nearly registered a triple-double registering a game-high 35 assists, 11 digs, and eight kills. Freshman Jamie Baumert (Elkhorn, Neb.) added nine kills and a game-high four blocks. Junior Sarah Fleming (St. Paul, Minn.) led the Friars in kills with seven. Sophomore Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added six kills and two blocks. Sophomore setter Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) had 23 assists, three kills and five digs.
Providence will participate in the Division I National Independent Volleyball tournament in Fargo, N.D. next weekend, Friday, November 10 and Saturday, November 11.
