Men's Track Competes At The Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Providence College men's and women's track teams competed at the Penn Relays in their first day of competition on Thursday, April 28.
The women's team was led by senior Mary Cullen (Sligo, Ireland) who won the 5,000 meter college championship division in a time of 16:20.63 to qualify for the NCAA Regionals. Junior Fiona Crombie (Christchurch, New Zealand) placed third in the steeplechase (10:35.63) in the college championship division. She also qualified for the NCAA Regionals. Graduate student Lisa Cappello (Lockport, N.Y.) ran in the 3,000 college division race and placed eighth in a time of 9:59.10.
On the men's side, junior Martin Fagan (Mullingar, Ireland), senior Pat Moulton (Pelham, N.H.) and junior Joe Dionne (Oshawa, Ontario) all ran the 5,000 meter college championship division race and qualified for the NCAA Regionals. Fagan finished second in a time of 14:03.64. Moulton was 11th (14:12.98) and Dionne placed 12th (14:15.39).
On Friday, April 29, the Friars will run their final race at the 2005 Penn Relays as the men's squad will compete in the distance medley relay. The men's and women's squads will return to action on Sunday, May 1 at the Brown Invitational in Providence.
