NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Providence College men's basketball team was picked to finish 13th of 16 schools in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Wednesday, October 26 at the BIG EAST Media Day at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y. Villanova was picked first in the Conference, followed by Connecticut, Louisville, Syracuse and West Virginia to round out the top five.
After West Virginia, the coaches picked Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, St. John's, DePaul and Marquette in front of the Friars. Rutgers, Seton Hall and South Florida were selected to finish 14-16, respectively.
Providence College will open its 2005-06 season with an exhibition game against Laval University on November 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The team will open its regular season against Vermont on Saturday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
