PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team (4-22) lost a gritty match on Senior Day to Quinnipiac University (5-14) by the score of 3-2, in action at PC's Mullaney Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Friars lost by game scores of 30-24, 21-30, 31-29, 17-30 and 15-17. Providence senior captains Annie Fiorvanti (Northport, N.Y.) and Allison Baker (Glastonbury, Conn.) each recorded a double-double. Fiorvanti had a team-high 42 assists and 12 digs while Baker tallied a match-high 22 kills and 17 digs.
PC won two of the first three games, closing the third out with a 31-29 victory. But the Bobcats battled back and won the fourth game, 30-17. In the fifth and deciding game, Quinnipiac pulled out the 17-15 win. Friars freshman Nonie Ferguson (Davie, Fla.) and Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each had nine kills, while classmate Amanda Little (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) totaled 29 digs.
Providence volleyball returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 26th. The Friars will travel to Quinnipiac for a 7:00 p.m. rematch.
