PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated by Cincinnati, 1-0, in BIG EAST soccer action on Sunday, October 2 at PC's Glay Field in Providence. The Bearcats' Kristin May scored the only goal of the game in the 67th minute to give Cincinnati the win.
In the first half, neither team had a legitimate scoring opportunity as Cincinnati outshot the Friars, 9-5. Cincinnati broke the 0-0 tie at 66:21 when May scored her first goal of the season. May blasted a low shot from 22 yards outside the goal that beat Friar sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Fedyshyn (Lincroft, N.J.) to the right side.
Fedyshyn made six stops in the loss for the Friars. Cincinnati goalkeeper Sherry Slye recorded four stops while earning the shutout.
The Friars will return to action on Friday, October 7 at St. John's at 7:00 p.m.
