Men's Basketball Nationally Ranked

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's basketball team is ranked 20th in the nation, according to the most recent Associated Press Poll and 17th in the nation, according to the most recent ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. Both polls were released on March 8. Last week, Providence was 12th in the AP Poll and 13th in the ESPN/USA Today Poll. Providence has been ranked for seven consecutive weeks and eight weeks overall this season. Eight weeks is the most the Friars have been ranked during the regular season since 1977-78, when Providence College was ranked for 13 weeks.

The Friars, 20-7 overall (11-5 in BIG EAST play), return to action on Thursday, March 11 at the BIG EAST Tournament. Providence, a three seed, will play the winner of the Seton Hall (six seed)/Villanova (11 seed) contest. The Friars' game is scheduled to start at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday and will be televised on ESPN.
