PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's swimming and diving team (3-4 overall) defeated Holy Cross by the score of 121-119 Saturday evening at PC's Taylor Natatorium.
The meet started off great for PC as the women's relay team won the opening event, the 400 meter medley relay, with a 4:42.95 performance. Comprised of sophomores Carolyn Rider (Freehold, N.J.), Annie Nemeth (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Katelyn Flynn (Sinking Spring, Pa.) along with senior Alyssa Meleski (Southington, Conn.), the quartet won by less than two seconds as Holy Cross turned in a 4:44.21 time.
Flynn also won the 200 meter butterfly with a time of 2:30.45, almost five seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Nemeth also won the 200 meter breaststroke with a time of 2:42.63. Senior Jamie Modon-Cohen (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) continued her dominance of the one-meter dive with a first-place score of 159.98.
Providence women's swimming & diving returns to action on Friday, Dec. 3 at Rhode Island. The Friars will compete in URI's Harold Anderson Invitational beginning at 5:00 p.m. The meet will begin Day Two on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 10:30 a.m.
