BRONX, N.Y. - The Providence College volleyball team (0-5) was defeated by Fordham, 3-0 (30-26. 30-13, 30-21), and Idaho State, 3-0 (30-16, 30-19, 30-19), in the first day of competition at the 2003 Rose Hill Classic hosted by Fordham University.
Sophomore Katie Fleming (Cary, N.C.) led Providence with a match-high 15 digs and team-high 10 kills against Fordham (2-3). Junior Ayana Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) added nine kills and five digs for the Friars.
Cadres led the Friar offense against Idaho State (3-1) with a match-high 10 kills on 27 total attacks for a .259 hitting percentage.
Providence returns to action on Saturday, September 6 at 8:00 a.m. against St. Peter's in its final match of the tournament.
