PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence sophomore Annie Fiorvanti (Northport, N.Y.) hit for a match-best .750 hitting percentage, but despite the strong offense the Friars were unable to capture a game as they fell to Georgetown, 3-0 (30-22, 30-26, 30-28) in volleyball action on Saturday, November 1 at Mullaney Gymnasium.
Providence (3-22) also benefited from a strong offensive effort by Ayana Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.). The junior had 12 kills on 27 total attacks for a .222 hitting percentage. Sophomore Allison Baker (Glastonbury, Conn.) anchored the Providence defense with seven kills.
Georgetown (7-16) was led by Annie Connor and Sara Albert, who notched 11 kills a piece. Rachel Nelson added 10 digs for the Hoyas.
Providence seniors Brigid Collins (Forest Park, Ill.), Megan St. Ledger (Cary, N.C.) and student trainer Jorge Yarzebski (Shrewsbury, Mass) were honored for their contributions to the program prior to the match.
The Friars return to action on Wednesday, November 5 in a 7:00 p.m. match at Marist.
