VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Providence College field hockey team was defeated by Villanova, 2-0, in BIG EAST Conference action on Sunday, October 26 in Villanova, Pa. The Friars fall to 8-10 overall and 0-4 in the Conference, while the Wildcats improve to 11-5 overall and 4-1 in the BIG EAST. With the win, Villanova claims a share of the BIG EAST Conference regular-season title.
The game was scoreless for the first 56-minutes of action before Leah Lisausky scored a goal to put Villanova ahead, 1-0. Vanessa Pizzulli was credited with the assist. 'Nova's Casey Whalen added a goal eight minutes later (5:38), as she scored on a pass from Megan Foster to seal the win.
Senior goalkeeper Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) registered seven saves in the loss for Providence. Erin Scott recorded two saves in the shut-out victory for Villanova.
Providence (8-10, 0-4 BIG EAST) will complete the 2003 regular-season schedule with a BIG EAST Conference match-up against the University of Connecticut on Saturday, November 1. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. in Storrs, Conn.
