Women's Basketball Defeats Dartmouth, 74-60

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's basketball team defeated Dartmouth College, 74-60, in non-conference action on Saturday, January 18 in Providence, R.I. Sophomore guard Michal Epstein (Rehovot, Israel) led three Friars in double-figures with a game-high 18 points, and added seven rebounds, two assists and three steals. The win marks the third-consecutive victory for the Friars who improve their record to 8-7 overall.
Joining Epstein in double figures was senior center/forward Kacee Wheeler (Bakersfield, Calif.) and sophomore point guard Keisha Blackwell (Baltimore, Md.). Wheeler registered 14 points, seven rebounds, two blocked shots and one steal. Blackwell contributed 11 points, six assists, four steals and four rebounds.
Angela Soriaga matched her career high with 17 points to lead Dartmouth. Jean Cullen and Katharine Hanks added 16 points and 12 points, respectively. Cullen and Hanks each pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
The Friars shot 55.1 percent (27-49) from the floor, including 41.7 percent (5-12) from three-point range. PC also converted 15-of-20 (75.0 percent) attempts from the free-throw line. Dartmouth shot just 38.2 percent (21-55) from the floor in the loss.
Providence College (8-7, 2-2 BIG EAST) will resume BIG EAST Conference action as it plays host to St. John's on Wednesday, January 22 in Providence, R.I. The game is scheduled to be played in Alumni Hall's Mullaney Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
