The No. 7 Providence College women's ice hockey team tied Niagara, 0-0, on Friday, January 10 at Schneider Arena.
Providence's freshman goaltender Jana Bugden (Corner Brook, Newfoundland) and Niagara's junior goaltender Jennifer Mascaro matched each other save for save through four periods of hockey. Bugden made 26 saves for the Friars while Mascaro finished with 34 saves for the Purple Eagles. Junior Kelli Halcisak (Grosse Ile, Mich.) led Providence with six shots on goal, while senior Valerie Hall led Niagara with six shots on goal and 18 face-off wins.
Providence outshot Niagara, 34-26. Bugden moved her record to 8-4-3 on the year and helped the Friars move to 10-5-4 overall as the Purple Eagles moved to 10-9-2 overall.
No. 7 Providence College returns to action on Sunday, January 11 when they host Niagara in the second game of the weekend series at Schneider Arena at 2:00 p.m.
