PC Women's Soccer Hosts #10 Connecticut

University of Connecticut Huskies (12-2-1/4-0-0) - The Huskies come to Glay Field for a BIG EAST Northeast Division game versus the Friars. UConn has won nine of their last 10 games. In Connecticut's last game against Seton Hall on October 20, freshman forward Brittany Barakat (Arlington, Texas) scored two goals to lead the Huskies to a 3-1 victory. Her performance earned her BIG EAST Co-Offensive Player of the Week. On the year, the Huskies have been led offensively by Kristen Graczyk (Albuquerque, N.M.). The sophomore forward leads UConn and is third in the BIG EAST with 11 goals and 26 points. The primary goalie this season for Connecticut has been senior Maria Yatrakis (Brooklyn, N.Y.). She has played in all of the Huskies 15 games, giving up just 14 goals for a 0.96 goals against average. Yatrakis also has recorded two shutouts on the year. Len Tsantiris is in his 22nd year as Head Coach of the Connecticut women's soccer program. The Huskies are currently ranked 10th in the NSCAA/adidas poll and 15th in the Soccer America poll. Connecticut and Providence have met 20 times with the Huskies owning a 19-1-0 record.

Providence College Friars (7-6-2/1-4-0) - Providence hosts Connecticut in BIG EAST Northeast Division action looking to continue its dominance at Glay Field this season. The Friars have compiled a 5-2-0 record this season at home. The Friars have not won five games at home since the 1994 season. The Friar offense has been led by sophomore midfielder Maura Robertson (Wellesley, Mass.) and freshman forward Kerry O'Malley (Longmeadow, Mass.). They are the only Friars who have double figure point totals with 17 and 12, respectively. Robertson and O'Malley are also first and second on the team, respectively, in goals and assists. Robertson has the team lead with five goals and seven assists, while O'Malley is a close second with four goals and four assists. The Friar defense has been anchored by junior goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.). She has played in 13 games, made 72 saves, and has a save percentage of .818. Haines also has recorded four shutouts on the year, three of which have come at home. Head Coach Tracy Kerr, the seventh Friar women's soccer coach, will attempt to gain her first win against Connecticut.
