DAVIDSON, N.C. - Junior Jennifer Chin (Norwood, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal to lead the Friars to a 1-0 victory over Davidson on Sunday, September 23 in Davidson, N.C. The win marks the fifth-straight victory for Providence who improves to 6-1 on the season.
Chin tallied her goal at the 27:49 mark of the first half. She recovered a loose ball after a failed attempt on a penalty corner and fired a shot into the right side of the cage. The Friars continued to put the Wildcat defense to the test, attempting seven of their 10 shots after Chin's goal.
Providence goalkeeper Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) earned her fourth shutout of the season, and the fourth of her career. She registered four saves on six Wildcat shot attempts. Cate Schenning and Sarah Nolan shared the goalkeeping duties for Davidson. Schenning took in five saves and earned the loss. Nolan made two saves.
Providence returns home to face Boston College in its BIG EAST Conference opener on Wednesday, September 26. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. on Hendricken Field.
