PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College field hockey team had its five-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday afternoon by Boston College, 2-0. The game marked the BIG EAST opener for both schools, and was the first game all season that Providence was held scoreless.
Boston College took a 1-0 lead with 12:59 remaining in the first half as Veronica Morgan connected on her second goal of the season. Kim French added an insurance goal for the Eagles in the second half, with 1:46 remaining in the game, to secure the 2-0 victory.
Goalkeeper Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) registered a career-high nine saves for Providence. Lauren Hill made four saves for BC.
Boston College outshot Providence 16-6, and held the advantage on penalty corners, 7-3. The Friars fall to 6-2 (0-1 BIG EAST), while the Eagles improve to 4-4 (1-0 BIG EAST). Providence will travel to Rutgers on Saturday, September 29 to take on the Scarlet Knights in BIG EAST competition at 11:00 a.m.
