Hamish Thorpe Earns Top-Ten Finish At NCAA's

FAYETTVILLE, Ark. - Providence College junior, Hamish Thorpe (Auckland, New Zealand) earned a tenth-place finish in the 3,000 meter run at the 2001 Division I Men's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The event was held in Fayettville, Arkansas at the Randal Tyson Track Center, on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
Thorpe, competing in his first NCAA collegiate indoor track championship, finished the event with a time of 8:13.16. Alabama runner, David Kimani won the 3,000 meter title in a time of 8:03.29.
The Friars finished in a five-way tie for 38th place as a team with six points. Fifty-five teams competed in the championships.
