PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's ice hockey team dropped a tough game to No. 3 ranked Harvard, 3-2 in ECAC action at Schneider Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Harvard jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after one period, and extended the lead to three goals at the 6:26 mark of the second period. The Crimson's Jennifer Botterill netted two goals in that span and assisted on the remaining goal, which was scored by Tammy Shewchuk.
PC's Danielle Culgin started a second-period rally at the 17:50 mark off a double-assist from Sarah Youlen and Jackie Tamsin. Jessica Tabb brought the Friars within one goal just under four minutes into the third period, and had a chance to tie the game on a break away attempt midway through the third.
Harvard outshot Providence 39-29 on the day. Providence goalkeeper Amy Quinlan made a season high 36 saves, while opposing keeper Jessica Ruddock made 26.
Providence (17-11-3, 9-9-3 ECAC) will take on Brown on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 25) at 2:00 p.m. in the final regular-season home game of the year.
